About

What We Do in Blair

Chiropractic adjustments help in providing proper motion to joints that are not moving correctly in order to prevent the increased mobility of the neighboring bones. Specifically, when one joint of the spine isn’t moving properly, it in turn effects the rest of the spine. As a result, if this decreased motion occurs, the adjacent joints have to overcompensate. With this extra movement, bone spurs, arthritis, etc may form in order to gain stability.

In addition to adjusting the bones of the spine, Blair Chiropractic Centre is also able to adjust the bones in the upper and lower extremities. If the bones of the foot and ankle are not moving properly, patients have an increased risk of having pain while walking and jumping. Wrist pain when putting pressure on your hand or turning your hand up and down may be due to improperly moving bones in the wrist. At Blair Chiropractic Centre, our team strives to correct and prevent these issues. The relationships and trust we build with our patients, through improving their health and well-being is of the utmost importance to us.

(ART) Active Release Techniques®

Our doctors at Blair Chiropractic Centre are certified in using Active Release Techniques®, otherwise known as ART®. These techniques primarily treat soft tissue injuries pertaining to muscles, tendons, blood vessels, muscle fascia, and nerves. The source of these soft tissue ailments can arise from an acute injury, or a repetitive injury that involves constant tension.

Constant injuries happen due to the fact that the muscles are at a constant and incorrect tension all day, eventually leading to the injury. When an acute injury presents itself, resulting in the tearing of soft tissue, the immediate result is inflammation, which brings in the body’s healing products to repair the injury. As a result, the body’s healing products can cause adhesions and therefore begin the cumulative injury cycle.

However, if the injury is left unattended, it can become a continual problem that could lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, tennis elbow, bursitis, nerve entrapments, thoracic outlet syndrome and more. But with the help of ART®, these adhesions can be treated in order to ensure proper tissue movement and function and prevent the injury from reappearing in the future.

Pregnancy

Blair Chiropractic Centre’s own Dr. Becky is different from other chiropractors in that she is certified in the Webster Technique by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, in addition to being full-body ART® certified. The Active Release Techniques® performed by Dr. Becky, is a myofascial technique that allows her to treat the muscular aches and pains that can come during pregnancy, but also provides you with advice on ways to prepare yourself for labor. It’s important that if need be, you get adjusted by a chiropractor during your pregnancy. As your nervous system controls everything in your body, a chiropractor ensures that the joints in your spine and pelvis are moving correctly in order for your nervous system to be functioning optimally. With your body changing as the baby is growing, your uterus needs optimally functioning nerves going to and from it to help the baby grow and be properly positioned. For the nerves to be working at their best, the spine needs to be working at its best, and Dr. Becky will ensure that. For more information on pregnancy and chiropractic care, please contact Dr. Becky at 402-426-4443 or info@blairchiropracticcentre.com.

Beyond the various chiropractic services, Blair Chiropractic Centre also has a licensed massage therapist on staff. These massages are available to our patients as well as to those within the community. Typically, massages with the Blair Chiropractic Centre can last from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the extent of the massage.

Physical Therapy

PT by Carol is tailored to your specific condition, simple or complex, common or rare.  These are just some of the most common problems treated.  I will give you an individual, one on one assessment, and you will receive a treatment plan based on your personal needs.

You might have suffered a recent injury, or have a long-term problem. Your neck, upper, or low back pain may be severe, or just a nagging annoyance.  Many spine conditions can be accurately assessed with careful listening, appropriate clinical tests, and manual examination techniques.  Testing includes nerves, muscles, ligaments, and movement patterns.  Often success in treating spine pain with physical therapy makes an expensive MRI unneeded. Have you tweaked a knee or ankle?  Do you have hip pain when you walk, go up and down stairs or try to sleep?  Maybe a foot issue is keeping you from being as active as you'd like to be. Are you a "weekend warrior" with a shoulder injury?  Maybe you have acute arm pain whether from an incident or "I have no idea what I did."  Sometimes arm numbness, tingling, or intermittent pain with certain movements can indicate a problem with a tendon, nerve, joint, or ligament.  Perhaps you just have muscle tightness or pain that just won't relax.  Let's figure out the culprit and design a precise program to get you better.
